Present —The Governor and five members. Mr. Merriman presented a petition from Mr. Hirst, a Licensed Auctioneer, New Plymouth, praying that the hours of sale directed by the Auctioneers License Ordinance might be enlarged; and that the Resident Magistrate at New Plymouth might be empowered to extend them to the evening. Petition received and read. The Colonial Secretary brought up the report of the Slaughter-house Bill, which was adopted.
Impounding Bill. The Attorney General moved the order of the day for the second reading of this Bill, and the Council considered it in Committee. On the motion of the Attorney General, the Marriage Bill was read a first time, and notice gave for its second reading on Thursday. The Council adjourned until Thursday, at 2 o'clock.
