SOUTH AUSTRALIA.
We regret to observe that the iufluenza is now prevailing in Adelaide to an alarming extent, having taken up its abode in almost every family, and even spread itself* beyond the municipal limits, affording an abundant harvest to the medical profession. Children are the principal sufferers, several ' deaths amongst whom have already occurred. The Register attributes the annually increasing j sickliness of Adelaide, and the presence \ amongst them' of a malady of so serious a character as the prevailing epidemic, to the exhalations of miasmata, from putrescent animal and vegetable substances. — It is stated upon uudoubted authority that a gentleman ot the name of Singleton has received the appointment of auditor-general for South Australia. — A few shares in Burra Burra, exchanged bands at £120 per share. One \ gentleman is reported to have expended twelve thousand pounds in the above mine. — Thomas Burr, Esq., Deputy Surveyor-General has vacated his Government appointment, and accepted a highly important and lucrative one | from the South Australian Mining Association. — In an action, Bank of South Austra-
