AUCKLAND.

* [From the New Zealander, August 18.J Fatal Accident. — We deeply regret to have to record the death of Mr. Colin Campbell, the pilot of the harbour, by drowning, yesterday morning. It appears that in the discharge of his duties, the deceased put off in a whale-boat with two maories, from the north head, in order to board the ship Tkomcis Lowry, and conduct her in. The wind was blowing strong in the vessel's favour, with a heavy sea on. The boat, hor/ever, was got close to her, but in taking in too much towline she fell astern, and under the ship's counter soon swamped, only the two maories escaping. Mr. Campbell, who was formerly master of the Sir John Franklin, has been held in general respect by the inhabitants of Auckland during the course of his residence here, and has left a widow and child to deplore his premature loss.
