NELSON.

[From the Nelson Examiner, Oct. 9.] It is highly gratifying to observe the progress which the natives in this district are making in agriculture". We understand that they have now 500 acres of wheat sown, and looking well. This will furnish them next season with almost every luxury they require, and enable them to acquire horses and small coasting vessels, for both of which they have a.great passion. There is now a small vessel on the point of being launched at Massacre Bay, which has been built for the natives by an European residing on the spot ; and Freeman has commenced building in his yard, on Auckland Point, two large boats of from ten to fifteen tons, for natives living at Motueka.
