By the Lady Mary Wood, we have Calcutta journals to the Bth March. The Sikh guns had at length reached Calcutta, and werereceived with great military ceremony by the officers of Government, having been previously exhibited at every considerable military station on their route from the Sulledge. The Friend of India estimates the expense of the procession at about 2\ lacks of ju pees. Meetings had been held at Calcutta and Bombay for the relief of the Irish, and the Highlanders and inhabitants of the islands of Scotland, when steps were taken to open subscriptions, which are being liberally made. The community of Singapore some time ago, at the call of the chaplain, contributed libe- ' rally" towards the relief of the suffering" Irish.' Is there no one to plead the cause of the perishing inhabitants of the north of Scotland with their numerous countrymen here? — Singapore Free Press.
