SUPREME COURT SITTINGS, Tuesday, June Ist, 1 847. Before Mr. Justice Chapman.

The following gentlemen were sworn in of the Grand Jury: — Captain Daniell, J. P., Foreman ; Mr. W. M. Bannatyne; Major Baker, J. P. ; Mr. G. Baker: Mr. K. Bethune ; Mr. E. Catcbpool ; Mr. J. C. Crawford, J. P. ; Mr. W. Fitzherbert ; Mr. A. Hort, senr. ; Mr. G. Hunter ; Mr. J. Johnston ; Mr. J. Kelham ; Mr. A. Ludlam ; Mr. S. Mocatta; Mr. A. M 'Donald, J. P. ; Mr. J. Perry; Captain Sharp ; Mr. R. Stokes ; Col. Wakefield, J. P. ; and Mr. J. Wallace. There were only two cases, one for burglary, and the other for an assault on Henry St. Hill, Esq., the Resident Police Magistrate. The Grand Jury found true bills against both prisoners. Willam Duckwith was indicted on the prosecution of Charles Nicol, of Thcrndon Flat, baker, with a burglary into bis house, and^ stealing therefrom various articles of wearing apparel. The prosecutor stated that on Teturning to his house on the evening of the 9th of March last, he found the back door open, and having waited a few minutes be saw the prisoner come out with a bundle. The prosecutor asked the prisoner who he was, and having received evasive answers, took hold of him until assistance was procured. The Jury without any hesitation found the prisoner guilty, and he was sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment. Robert Young was' indicted for an assault on the Resident Police Magistrate, Hensy St. Hill, Esq. Tbe evidence proved that the prisoner was before the Magistrate under a charge when the prisoner took up a book and threw it at him. The prisoner was found guilty and sentenced to six months' imprisonment.
