VAN DIEMEN'S LAND. [From the Australian.]
By the Elphinstone we have received Hobart Town papers to the 24th inst., the date of her departure. the exception of the following, we find nothing of interest to the public here : —
The Markets. — The supplies of grain and hay are still far from abundant, yet prices have not advanced. The wheat market was not yesterday so brisk as early in the week, and hay, owing to the quantity which had been damaged in its transit to market, and therefore sold low, is still at former prices. Oats and barley are now remunerating. In other produce there is no change. — Advertiser, April 23.
Hobakt Town Markets, April 28. — This morning's report confirms the anticipation expressed in our last ; wheat is doll of sale at 4s. 6d. to 4s. Bd. Not much coming
in. Flour and bread continue as before.— Courier, April 24. _
Launceston Grain Market, April 21. —Wheat sells readily at 3s. 6d. ; purchasers decline to give more for any sample. Cataract and Supply Mills. — Fine flour £10, seconds £9 per ton ; wheat 2s. 9d. to 3s. 6d. Union Mills. — Fine flour per ton, £10; seconds, £8 : 10s. ; thirds, £7. — Examiner.
