Remarks. — A White Flag at Mast Head denotes a sail in sight; when the class is ascertained, the descriptive Signal will be hoisted at the Yard Arm. English vessel of war, Union Jack at Mast Head. Foreign vessel of war, Union Jack at Mast Head, with white Pendant. Government brig, white Pendant under descriptive Signal. When a vessel is at anchor, either inside oi outside the Heads, the flag is lowered to half mast. A vessel in distress, or on shore, descriptive signal half mast. Fore and aft schooner, a triang 1 c hollow in the centre.

Arrangements have been made with Captain Parker, of the ship Java, to convey on to Neir Zealand the troops now on board that vessel, then to return to Sydney with the detachments of the 58th and 99th Regiments now stationed there, and afterwards to proceed to "Van Diemen's Land with the head quarters of the 11th Regiment nowstationed in Sydney. The Java will sail for New Zealand in the course of a week or ten days ; but previous to her sailing, we understand the troops will be disembarked in three different detachments, for the purpose of receiving exercise, each detachment remaining on shore twenty-four hours.— Australian, October 22.
