Remarks.— A White Flag at Matt Head denotes 4 sail in J sight ; when the class is ascertained, the descriptive Signal will be hoisted at the Yard Arm. English vessel of war, Union Jack at Mai Head. Foreign vessel of war, Union Jack at Mast Head, with white Pendant. Government brig, whits Pendant under descriptive Signal. When a vessel is at anchor, either inside ok outside the Heads, the flag is lowered to half mast. A vessel in distress, or on shore, descriptive signal half mast. Fore and aft ichoonwr, a trianfU bellow ia the cmtit.
