ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE. To the Editor of the New Zealand Spectator. Wellington, April 13, 1846.
Sir, As there appears to be some probability of an increase of Government expenditure in public works in this district, it may be hoped that they will be executed under a more efficient superintendence than has hitherto been displayed. I need only refer to the bridges on Te Aro flat, and the state of the beach at Kumutoto after the late rains, to shew that there is ample room for improvement in this department. I am, Sir, Your obedient servant, An Observer.
To the Editor of the New Zealand Spectator. [Want of room obliged us last week to defer the insertion of the following letter. — Ed. N.Z.S.] Wellington, 7th April, 1846. Mr. Editor, In a late paper you congratulated the Company on obtaining all they had a right to expect and, more than that, all they could wish for; can you Mr. Editor, or any of your readers say, whether any arrangements are in progress for satisfying the just demands of that class of illused persons, who hold reserves of land, purchased from the Company seven years ago ? An answer to the above would oblige a subscriber and An Old Colonist.
We publish the following copy of one of the new debentures issued under the arrangement made by his Excellency for withdrawing the former debentures from circulation.
