Commissariat Office, Willis Street, Wellington, 17th February, 1846. Annual Contracts. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, That SEALED Tenders, will be received at this Office, by the Undersigned, until Monday the 16th of March next, at noon, for furnishing the Commissariat at Wellington, and at the River Hutt, with the supplies under menti< ned, in such quantities as may be required during the twelve calendar months, commencing the Ist of April next, under the conditions hereafter specified, viz. Bread, -| Biscuit, I Flour, > at per lb. Fresh Meat, [ Vegetables, J Or, the Ration of Bread and Meat, consisting of 1 lb. of each, may be tendered at per Ration. Rum, (West India,) at per Imperial Gallon. Firewood, of a marketable description, and cut into 4 feet lengths, at per 100 lb. Mould Candles, at per lb. Dip Candles, at per lb. For Hospitals, &c. Arrow Root, Sago, Rice, Tea, ") Sugar, Oatmeal, Salt, Yellow L -f a . ]u Soap, Pearl Barley, mixed Ye- f at per lb * getablesj Potatoes, Fine Bread ■> Milk, at per pint. Port Wine, at per dozen. Vinegar, at per Imperial Gallon. Porter, at per dozen. Conditions.
QUALITIES OF THE SUPPLIES. Ist, All the Articles to be of the best quality of the several kinds. 2d, The Flour to be the produce of clean sound colonial Wheat, from which 20 per cent, in bran has been extracted. 3d, The Bread to be made from Flour of the " same quality as described in the preceding paragraph, and to be baked 24 hours before being issued, in loaves of 2 lb. each. 4th, The Fresh Meat to be issued daily, and to consist of Beef and Mutton, in equal proportions, to be delivered in fore and hind quarters alternately, when the quantity admits of it. When Beef is issued, six inches to be cut off the hough and neck bones. sth, The mixed Vegetables for the Hospitals and other establishments entitled thereto, shall be supplied in reasonable proportions of Greens, Onions, &c. 6th, The Rum to be West India, 5 per cent, under proof. MODE OF DELIVERY. 7th, No part whatever of the supplies above specified, shall be received in charge of the Commissariat, but shall be delivered by the Contractor direct, and at his expense, to the persons entitled thereto, at any place within the limits of the Town, upon the written order of the Commissariat Officer in charge, or of any person authorised by him for that purpose. General Conditions. tth, Each Tender sent in, in consequence of this advertisement, to be accompanied by a statement, signed by two competent persons, and expressing their readiness, in the event of such Tender being accepted, to become security for the due performance of the Contract, which will then be entered into. The penalty of the bond to be equal to the estimated amount of two months' supplies, and no supslies5 lies will be received until the bond has been uly executed. 9th, Tenders for the supplies required at Wellington, may sent in either for the whole or any portion of them, excepting those under the head of Hospitals, which must all be- included in One Tender. All the articles required at the River Hutt must also be included in One Tender. 10/ A, The Contractor to prepare his own account according to the prescribed form, for the amount of which he will be furnished with a certificate by the Undersigned, and on the production thereof at the Commissariat office, at Auckland, he shall feceive payment monthly, by a Bill upon the Lords Commissioners of her Majesty's Treasury, at par, when the amount is fifty pounds or upwards ; when under that amount,- payment will be there made in cash. 11th, In the event Of any article offered, being objected to, as not agreeing with these conditions, it will be submitted to a. Board of officers, to be appointed by the Officer commanding the Troops, and if rejected by the Board, it will be replaced by the Commissariat Officer, and charged against the Contractor, in the. event of his neglecting to do so when required. 12th, It shall be in the power of either party to limit the duration of the Contract by giving ' in writing a notice of three calendar months, (or in eases of contracts for Meat, of one calender month) to the other party, and to end the contract at the expiration of that period, it being understood that lueh notice can be given only from the first day of a months and within the period for which the contract is made or agreed to be made.
