Remarks.— A White Flag at Mast Head denotes a sail in tight; when- the 'crass ii ascertained, the descriptive Signs! will tfe Hoisted at the Yard Ann. English vessel of war, Union Jack at Mast Head. Foreign vessel of war, -Union Jack at Matt Head, with white Pendant: " * ~ Government brig, white Pendant under descriptive Signal. ' ' When a vessel is at anchor, either inside at outside the Heads, the flag is lowered to halt mast. A vessel in distress, or on shore, descriptive signal half mast. Fore and aft schooner, a triangle, hollow in the centre.
