STATISTICS.
The following Statistics are extracted from the Cook's Strait Almanack just published, and are obtained either from Official Returns or collected from private information. We are sorry we have been unable from the want of the necessary data to add the Statistics of Nelson, to those of the other settlements in Cook's Strait : — Total amount of oil and bone, the produce of the different stations belonging to the Port of Wellington, for the years 1843, 4, and 5 :—: —

Number of Houses and Buildings in the Town of Wellington : — Brick Houses 50 Wooden Do 417 Clay Do 213 Stores (mostly brick) 38 Public Houses 12 Buildings not included in the above account : — 6 places of fublic Worship (2 of brick), 1 Gaol (brick), 1 Bank, 1 Custom-house, 1 Post-office, and 2 Barracks (1 of brick). There are two Flour Mills in Wellington (1 a Windmill, and the other worked by Steam), each with one pair of stones. There is also a Windmill in the Hutt district with two pair of stones ; and a Water Mill at Kai Warra with two pair of stones is nearly completed. In addition to these, Messrs. Kebble's Steam 'Mill at Manawatu will shortly be converted into a Flour Mill.

An account of the number and tonnage of vessels that have entered inwards and cleared 1 " outwards at the Port of Wellington, from the 6th January 1845, to 6th January 1846, inclusively :—: —
A list of the number of vessels registered at the Port of Wellington, from 10th May, 1845, (the date of re-establishment of Customs) to 31st December, 1845.
The Three Brothers has been registered de novo, from having been transferee! to other owners. The Sarah Jane, Isabella, and Fisherman were built in the course of the past year.

We are informed that the Royal William in her last trip to Hawke's Bay was rushed by the natives, who took out of her whatever articles of trade they required, and ]eft in return what they considered an equivalent in pigs. This may be free trade, but we should think it would be desirable to place such a trade under proper restrictions.
