In order to gratify the intense interest which the recent news from England has created, we have published a Supplement to this day s Spectator, containing extracts from the Appendix to the last Report of the New Zealand Company, in which our readers will find a full account of the plan of the New Province of Victoria, as submitted in Lord Ingestre's letter on behalf of the Company to the British Government. We consider the plan to be deferred only, not altogether laid aside ; and when we remember the comparatively small majority on Captain Rous's amendment; and that this amendment, which still leaves the question open, was passed before the news of the destruction of Kororarika had reached England, we are persuaded the next direct arrival from England will bring news of the most important character as affecting the future prosperity of the Settlements in Cook's Straits.
