SUPREME COURT.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a Sitting of the Supreme Court, for the despatch of Criminal business, will be bolden at the Court House, in Wellington, on Monday, the first day of September next, at one o'clock in the forenoon ; and that a Sitting for the despatch of Civil business, will be holden at the Court House, on Monday, the Bth day of said .month, at ten o'clock in the forenoon ; at which time* and place all persons under recognizances to appear either as prosecutors, defendants, or witnesses, are required to give their attendance. ARRIVALS. August 19. — Sloop Royal William, Lovett, from Cloudy Bay. Same day. — Schooner Kate, M'Farltne, from Kaikora, with oil. Same day. — Schooner Sarah Jane, Swarm, from Kaikora, with oil. Same day. — Brig Bee, Unthank, from Akaroa, with oil. Same day. — Schooner Mana, Munn, from Kaikora, with oil.

DEPARTURES. August 17. — Cutter Ann and Sarah, Sinclair, for Nelson. August 19. — Barque Elizabeth, Jones, for New Hebrides. August 22. — Schooner Sister, Korff, for Sydney. Same day. — Sarah Jane, Swarm, for Cloudy Bay. The Bee spoke, off Banks' Peninsula, the Carnaervon, whaler, Irving, 100 ban els humpback oil. The Marianiie of Hobart Town, Lindsay, 350 barrels black oil. The American whaler China, Captain Porter, left Akaroa, homeward bound, with 1,700 black, and 850 barrels sperm. The following colonial whaler* are on the whaling grounds in the neighbourhood of the Peninsula :— The Cheviot of Hobart Town, eight months out, 50 tuns black and 8 tuns sperm. The Juno of Sydney, eight months out, 550 barrels sperm. The Wallaby of Hobart Town, with 80 tuns black oil : 63 tuns of this was caught off Port Cooper heads in six days. The fisheries to the southward of Banks' Peninsula have not proved so successful as was anticipated. By the Bee we learn that at Woods' H,oiho station, there is 29 tuns ; Price's, Ikolaki, 27 tuns ; Rhodes', Peraki, 28 tuns. The fishery at Island Bay was broke up early in the season, all , the hands being lost at sea on the 6th June. Mr. Napier, of Glasgow, has been commissioned by Government to build an iron frigate 'for the navy, 1,800 tons burdeu. This wjll be the first frigate built on the dydeT ' '
