THE WAR IN NEW ZEALAND.

Yesterday afternoon his Excellency the Commander of the Forces, what is termed " put in orders" a letter from Governor Fitzroy to Lieutenant-Colonel" Hulme, on the late triumph of the British forces over the New Zealanders who are under the controul of Johnny Heki. That the loss to Kawaiti' sparty was serious, that it will have the effect of preventing other chiefs from joining- Heki, is quite probable ; but as the soldiers retreated, leaving Heki in his pa, we cannot understand how they can claim a victory. — Sydney Morning Herald.
