TARANAKI.
At a public meeting, held at the Devon Hotel n Wednesday, the 11th June, 1845, the fol)wing resolutions were passed, Josiah Flight, Isq., in the chair : Moved by F. U. Gledhill, Esq., seconded by . B. White, Esq., and carried unanimously : " That the extracts from the Governor's priate letter to Capt. King, relative to the memo. [al forwarded to his Excellency by the chairman fthe public meeting held on the 10th April ist, impressing upon his Excellency the necesty of sending troops for the protection of her lajesty's subjects in Taranaki, are most unsasfactory; and that his Excellency ought to aye stated more distinctly his reasons for relsing to grant the prayer of the memorial, to ie chairman of the meeting, and through him > the settlers in Taranaki." Moved by J. T. Wicksteed, Esq., seconded y E. Davy, Esq., and carried unanimously: " That the following memorial to his Excellcy the Governor be adopted, and the chairanbe requested to forward it to his Excellency:"
