New Zealand House, B.oal Street Buil lings, Oct. 19, 1845. Sir,— Mr. Gowen, oue of the Directors of the New Zealand Company, having procured from the Royal Horticultural Society, for the Horticultural Garden at Wellington, very valuable collections of seeds and of rooted piauls, which are now transmitted by the iSluyi* Castle ; but being at the present moment in France, I ilo myself the honour, at his' instance to enclose the Bill of Lading, and to request that is if d ily received, you will be good' enough -to address an official letter of acknowledgement to the Secretary of the Royal Horticultural Society. Mr. Gowen was of opinion that it would be advisable to distribute the seeds in such a way as would be likely to 'prove most useful, aim to place the plants in some public garden, and, as supplies have been otherwise forwarded to Nelson, he would be glad if a portion could be reserved for the settlement of New Plymouth, and forwarded as opportunity may offer.Dr. Lindley, the Secretary of the Royal Horticultural Society, is perfectly convinced that seedlings raised in the colony, witH>e of much greater value than any varieties sent out from England. Seeds Apples, pears, cherries, peaches, apricots, raspberries, gooseberries, plums, guava, (psiduince^cattezianencej strawberries, 3 sorts, currants, 3 do., melons, 5 do., craseguses, 18 do., common holly, evergreen privet.
