To the Editor of the "New Zealand Spectator and Cook's Straits Guardian."

Sir, — You would confer a real service on the inhabitants of Wellington by publishing this caution, against a relation of the late celebrated Dando, who lately arrived from Sydney, and is now victimizing the publicans of Wellington, by dispatching large quantities of the best the tar and larder contains — he graciously declaring that the wines and brandy's are devilish fine. This interesting visitor stands about six foot high, and is cultivating a pair of beautiful muttochtes. Against these scamps the law affords no protection to the heavily taxed publicans, and they march into licensed houses and devour with impunity, well knowing that if they obtained the property -of any other class of tradesmen in a similar manner, they would be punished for felony. J remain, Mr- Editor, Your obliged servant, Cyclops. Wellington, Oct. 23, 1844.
