OCTOBEII. Flower Garde*. — Tn ordinary »easons, the ■grub and grasshopper commence to be very destructive tfiii month. It is therefore of eoiitfeqpience that sowing should have taken place as, early as possible m the previous month. Sow tender annuals, and commence planting out. Kitchtn Garden. — Plant potatoes; put into forcing frame capsicum*, cucumbers, melon*, vegetable marrow, and tomatas; in dry feasons, these may also be sown without protection. Sow guorda and pumpkins; sow vegetable teedft generally for later crop ; sow cauliflower and brocoli. Orchard. — Examine young grafts; cutting* and layers may still be made. . , ' . Field. — Break up ground; fell timber; so^ grass, clover, maize, oats.
