" What would the poor man do?" was the remark of an Aberdeen old bachelor. Fenelon, who had often teased Richelieu (and ineffectually it wou'd seem) for subscriptions to charitable undertakings, was one day telling him that he had ju-st seen his picture. " And did you ask it for a subscription ?" said Richelieu, sneeringly. " N I saw there was no chance," replied the other: "it was so like you."
