The Wairarapa Neios, in its last issue, says:— "The returns have at length been received from Alfredton, and are as follows—Bunny, 1; Andrew, 1; Pharazyn and Carter, 0. It appears that only one elector voted, and wishing to make the most of his opportunity, split his vote in favor of Messrs. Bunny and Andrew. Mr. Hathaway, the Deputy-Returning Officer, was prevented from getting into Masterton till Saturday afternoon, and not as the Standard states, on Sunday ; nor was he too late to open the polling-booth at the proper hour on the day appointed. We have it on the best authority that the Returning Officer arrived at Alfredton on the previous (i.e. Monday) evening."
