A CORRECTION.
[TO THE EDITOE 0E THE NEW ZEALAND MAIL.] Sib, —In the Bangitikei Telegram in your issue of the 4th instant, referring to the permits granted by the local Justices to the publicans to sell liquor in booths on the racecourse, and to the protest of Mr Fox against the'same, addressed to the Justices, your correspondent would lead the public to infer that the permits were granted in the face of such protest, which pointed out the illegality of the permits. Ab one of these Justices allow me to Btate that the permits were granted at least two days before the receipt of Mr Fox's protest, and on the strength of the 21st clause of the Licensing Ordinance of 1867. —I am, &c. f Bangitikei, Jan. 8,1872.
