Ohinemubi. —A late special telegram from Auckland, forwarded by Greville’s agency, reports that the natives of Ohinemuri have expressed their willingness to permit the establishment of the telegraph and overland mail, and have arranged to confer upon the subject with Br Pollen, as agent for the General Government. Gold on Banks Peninsula. —We notice by the Christchurch papers that an endeavor is being made to thoroughly test the reef in Mr Higgings' land at Governor’s Bay. It is proposed to raise funds by subscription for that purpose, and the list when opened was immediately headed with handsome amounts by two gentlemen acquainted with the locality. Mr Higgings undertakes to sell twenty acres of his land in a square block where ever the subscribers may select, for a sum of £2OO, and Mr J. Winterbine to give his work for fifty paid up shares in the undertaking. All subscribers of £5 now 'will receive three paid-up shares when the company is formed; and it is intended shortly to start a coach from Christchurch to the locality, in order that persons interested may inspect the locality themselves.
