The Public House Plethora in Tasmania. —A telegram from Hobart Town says : —A deputation consisting of two bishops (Anglican and Roman Catholic), the Major, and others bad an interview with the Colonial Secretary to complain of the excessive number of public houses. He promised that the Government would consider the matter. Expoet of Gold. —It is perhaps not generally known that the value of gold shipped away from New Zealand since the goldfielda were first discovered amounted, on the 31st of March last, to the prodigious sum of £22,242,460!
