Htjtt Bridge.—lt may be interesting to Hutt readers to know the site recommended by the committee on which to erect the bridge. The following is the description of the spot as appended in the schedule to Mr Blackett's report : —No 3 site would be immediately below a short post on the eastern bank, about threequarters of a chain below the willow tree on which the wire rope for the barge punt is laid, the centre line of the bridge site, on the western bank, being about the lower end of a small willow plantation below the wooden breakwater.
Athen-Ettm:. —At a meeting of the committee of this institution on Tuesday some stringent resolutions were agreed on. Members in arrear at the end of the month are to be struck off the list; books are to be called in on the 24th for re-binding and classification. A series of lectures in aid of the funds will be given during the winter, and will be commenced and closed with a soiree dansante. Family tickets will be issued, and members are to be restricted in taking out more books than they are entitled to at once. That a respectful letter be written calling the attention of the Provincial Executive to the useless condition of the Provincial Library, and offering a room for its reception, to be open to the members of the Couneil. A sub-committee was appointed to see the resolution passed carried into effect.
