WELLINGTON V. HUTT.
The return rifle match between the Wellington team of 12, and a like number from the Hutt was fired at the Adelaide Butts on Saturday. The day was everything that could be desired, and we have the gratification of recording a victory of our town men, and in congratulating them on the scores. The Hutt men won the first match by 40 points, having scored 384 against 345 scored by the Wellington men. On this occasion, however, the Wellington men won by 65. The score of D. S. Gray, of the No. 1 Company W.R.Y., is in every respect a very creditable score, he having been the only competitor who went through the match without a miss. It will be seen from the score below that the scores of the first six men are all above the highest of the Hutt scores. The deciding match is arranged to be fired to-day, each team firing on its own range. WELLINGTON TEAM.
138 126 87 351 Average for Hutt men, 29i ;* Majority for Wellington, 65.
