« Cigae Racing."—The sporting men of Clermont, Queensland, have introduced a novelty in racing. In drawing up a programme of sports for St Patrick's Day, one item was a "cigar race," which is thus described by the " Peak Downs Telegram" : " Each rider must light a cigar at starting and. come in with it alight. The rider coming in first, who has maintained the vital spark, is the winner, though his horse may run second or third. The race is common in India, and is said to cause much amusement.
