The opening shoot of the season of the Whakntnne .1?iflo Club held ycsterdny took the form of a tennis slioot over 200 and 300 yards. The Rangitaiki team (Wilson, H. McFarland, S. Mikkelsen. L. Mikkelsen, F. Woods, IT. Brabant) defeated the Whakatane team (Rand. A. Oxenhnm, E. Newton, J. Rand, E. Law, C. Thomas) by 330 points to 293.

Davies, 98, 2—loo, J. Calder, 100, scr—loo, and 11. Sykes, 92, B—loo, being the scorers. In a further shoot IT. Sykes won by 98, 2—loo, with O. Davies. 97. 2—99, and J Calder, 9G, 3—99. second. A shoot was also held in the J. S. Woolley trophy series. The evening's trophies wero vyon by ,T. Calder and F. White, witli a possible eacli off the rifle.
