VICTORY OVER TAUPO [from our own correspondent] TAUPO, Sunday In the first Rugby match of their tour on Saturday tho Hawke'B Bay colts team defeated the Taupo representatives by 19 points to 10. This was the first defeat suffered by Taupo for five years. Soon after the commencement the Taupo backs were sent away and Garlick cut through to "the fullback to send J. Reid over. Garlick converted. Hawke's Bay equalised with a penalty -goal by Mataira shortly before half-timfi. In tho second spell the Hawke's Bay forwards monopolised the game and Taupo was kept on the defensive. Loose rushes by the Hawke's Bay forwards ended in tries to McKenzie and Cook, while of the backs Nelson and B. "Wright scored Setford converted two tries. Just before tho final -whistle Garlick took piny fo the Hawke's Bay line and from a line-out T. Rickit scored. Garlick converted, making the final score:—Hawke's Bay, 19: Taupo, 10.
