OPENING AT TUAKAU [from our own correspondent]

TUAKAU. Saturday

The Tuakatt Tsnnis Club's courts were officially opened for the season to-day. In declaring the courts open, the president, Mr. G. Arrowsmith, said that the courts were in particularly fine condition and that prospects for the corom? season were much brighter than they had been at this time last year. The first ball was played by Msss M. Arrowsmith.

PUKEKOHE, Saturday

The ofßoial opening of the Pukekohe East Tennis Club's courts to-day was favoured by ideal weather. Many visitors were present from surrounding clubs, including Bombay. Auckland. West End Hill and Pukekohe. The opening ceremony was performed by the president, Mr. E. A. Mahoney, the first ball being played by his daughter. Miss F. Mahoney.

WHANGAREI, Sunday

Thure was a large attendance at the official opening of tfo© Mnirtown Tennis Clnb, held yesterday afternoon. Mr. K. G. M. Kelly, in the absence of the, patron, Mr. H. C, Rishworth, welcomed the visitors and declared the season open. He presented trophies won last season, the championship events being as follows:—Ladies' singles, Mrs. Saul: men's singles. Mr. 0, R. Morgan: ladies' doubles. Misses R. Tibbits and K Burch: men's doubles, Messrs. O. K. Morgun and G. Nicholls; combined doubles, O. R. Morgan and Miss R. Tibbit«. A progressive tournament was won DT Mrs. G. Morrison and C. Waymouth.
