Sir, —Your correspondent, "Friendly Critic," discussing the broadcasting position, bases his criticisms on wrong hypotheses. I" irstly, ho infers that a booklet ho received was issued by Uncle Scrim. Iliis is quite contrary to fact. The booklet was issued by the IZB Radio Club, an association of listeners. The Friendlv lload embraces all shades of political thought and cannot take sides in politics, but the shabbv treatment it has received from the Government has driven (lie Listeners' Club to fight on behalf of the station. Your correspondent criticises IZI3 for political action. If ho means the IZB Radio Club, we make :no apology for it. Will he tell the public what methods he would adopt if the Government did not givo him what his radio club wanted? He endeavours to excuse the Broadcasting ,'3oard for putting Messrs. Forbes and Coates on the air at their Wellington civic reception, but omits to state that the Broadcasting Board had previously ii»;ued an edict that no candidate for Parliament will be allowed to broadcast in any capacity and that this gag had been applied to a candidate even in respect of a community sing of which he was leader.
