RAGLAN ITEMS.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Raglan, Friday. Messrs. Mueller and Wilkinson have been holding a native inquiry commission with reference to land alleged to have been illegally taken from the natives. The commission closed yesterday, and the evidence with the Commissioners' report will be sent on to Wellington. Yesterday evening a deputation, consisting of the county chairman, the county engineer and a number of the most influential residents, waited upon the chief surveyor and drew his attention to various necessary works, asking for his favourable consideration and report. The matter of the Opoturu Bridge, the Raglan-Waipa Road, Kawhia Road, and others were discussed, and Mr Mueller promised to do all he could to help with these works. The chief surveyor and party left for Waikato this morning by Sutton s coach. . Mr. , Wright, Government road engineer, is in the district laying off various works.
