This company is being formed for the purpose of acquiring and working the North Brunuer Coal Lease ot 640 acres, at Greymouth, New Zealand, which is held from the New Zealand Government and the Midland Railway Company for 30 years under most favourable conditions. The quality ol the coal from the district has been proved to be the best for gas manufacture, coke for smelting work, and for patent fuel, in the Australasian colonies, as shown by the sale of the next colliery to this lease during last year for the sum of £100,000, after working for 110 years, as given iu the evidence before the Coalfields Committee, Wellington, last year (1880). As a marine steam coal the West Coast coal of New Zealand has of Lite become very fatuous for its steaming qualities, and there is an unlimited demand for it for l«>th home and coasting steamers. Coke required at Broken Hill. —Statistics : J>uriiig last It! months there was used at Broken llill, by live mining companies alone, 1310 tons of coke per week, and it is estiulated that the future requirements will bo 1740 tons per week, and, according to contracts for one year ending March SI, 1890, the ltroken Hill Proprietary used 18,144 tons English coke, costing landed at Port Pirie some £3 7s 8d per ton. German coke used during the same terms at various mines at Broken Hill, 2700 tons at X.2 19s (id per ton: Now South Wales coke, 485 tons at £2 13s 6d ; Greymouth, New Zealand coke, 20011 tons at £2 17s tkl per ton. Vide Mr. Sydney Smith's report in a speech delivered lately at Broken Hill. It will thus be seen that ail ample market is open for all the coal and coke that the North Brunner Colliery can produce. Applications for shares in this most promising investment will be received by F. A. WHITE, 83, Queen-street, Auckland, who will givo all the information required by investors. Only ONE-HALF TOE SHARES are reserved for Australia, the balance being required in New Zealand. Calls. Trenton gold mining company (LIMITED.)
