Cable reports tell how a medium named Bailey is assisted' by spirits to transport animals and objects from dis>tant climes : — Mr. Bailey has some spirits at the Yarra That fly at bis command, to distant climes. And bring him birdls from Egypt And moonstones from Oeylon ; For I read it in the latest morning "Times." But after all there's nothing strange about it, And Bailey's doings are not quite unique, For my spirits bring me things Such as snakes with legs and wings, And monkeys with an eye in either dheek. The last night that I saw them was on Tuesday, When they came and' stood 1 in crowds •around my bed ; There were taniwhas and kunus And Hindustanee crhoomies, And a tuatara with a kiwi's head. But I'm not inclined to boast about the things that all might see, For spirits will control you if you choose, And the way to get in touch Is to take a drop too much, When you're sure to be attended bv the spirits in the booze. 1 — XXX. * • •
