Boxing.
The entries for the championship meeting of the Wellington Boxing Association close on the Bth July. Already there is an indication of a big number of competitors. One of the main attractions wiD be a six-round "go" between "Billy" Murphy and Clark, a Sydney boxer, who oomes with good' credentials. This display will take place on the second! naght of the meeting. The members of the "Wellington Centre are showing great enthusiasm in the working of their Association, all the meetings recently held drawing record attendances. Mr. A. Laurenson, who has confined his attention to New Zealand Rugby "Union matters in the past, has been elected a member of the committee. The motion to secede from the New Zealand! Association was not persevered with, the majority of the members beinig of the opinion that for the good government of the sport- it was a necessity to have a -controlling head. Dr. McLean has presented a valuable trophy for competition at the cTiamprionsnip meeting.
