Harriers.

The annual teams' road race, conducted by the Wellington Harriers, will take place to-morrow (Saturday). Though this event wa.s only instituted last year, it has already become an established institution, and much interest is being taken in it. Sixteen teams of four men each have entered 1 for the 2 ace, including representatives from football and hockey clubs, three gymnasinm?, Victoria College, the Amateur Athletic Club, and three teams from the V.M.C.A. The distance of the race is five miles. The start will be from the Band 1 Rotunda in Jervois Quay, and the competitors will run to a given point in Evans Bay, and back to the starting point. It is a practical impossibility to suggest the winning team, but the first man in should be either Pollock, Ross, or Caldow. The Harriers are the present holders or the Challenge Shield, and, judging

by appearances, they have a big contract on hand to retain it. Mr. A. M. Stuart will act as staiter and judge; 'Mr. W. H. Jones, official clerk ; Messrs. Dixon and Holmes, stewards; Messrs. Pollock, Ludwig, and Tucker, time-keepeis. Mr. Stuait Robinson, the hon. secretary of the Harriers, has worked this 1 ace up with a deal of enthusiasm, and I hope his efforts will meet with the success they deseive. The race will start at 2.45 p.m., and progiammes will be distributed free among the spectators, giving the names of the teams and their colours, and the individual competitors.
