The Northern Roller Milling Company of Auckland, undaunted by the Southern Milling Trust, which aims at making the necessary "dust" as precious ak erolcLdust, is still holding out. As a matter of fact, the N.R.M. Co. is the only free mill that has the courage to face the Southern combine, which is ftftv mills strong. The lonely company has made a vast number of friends by "putting up its hands" to its rivals. It couldn't keep its friends if it did not make an article that is probably the best of its kind in the country despite outside combination. "Champion" flour is well-named. Its makers threw down the gauntlet, and show no disposition to crawl in out of the fight. The rumour that the Trust is using smokeless powder has stirred up the lone warrior of the North. He is sleeping alongside nis gun, and his celebrated troop-horse, "Champion," is doing gentle exercise. People in New Zealand love pluck. They should put their mcnep on "Champion."
