We thank Mr. J. Waitkm Kmniburgh for a oopy of the interesting paper on "Counting and Counting Machines," which he read at the recent session of the Insurance* Institute. It has been re-printed in pamphlet form, and is illustrated' with pictures of various counting machines, ranging from the ancient shwampan of the Chinese to the computer invented by Mr. Poynton of this city.
