Cricket.
A correspondent sends me flhat_ lie considers a record m cricket mi Wellington. Last Wednesday the Union Club turned up to finish its match with three players, and succeeded, with the help of substitutes, in defeating the Drapers. Of course, the Drapers were the batting team, and they could only manage to get 97 of the 121 runs they required to win. This may be a lecord on the part of the Union players — three men to do so we ll — but the rules of cricket must have been disregarded m the performance, and so, as a record, it is of no use. There are certain places in the field which a substitute cannot field in therefore, how three men got through the task puzzles me. Some other cricket items have reached me, but it is too late now to make comments on them. I will preserve them however, and, if occasion arises, will mention them next season.
