Christchurch, March 31. The Prennei replying to the Chnstchuich lesolution asking for a Boyal Commission to inquire into the defences of the colony states that the pierogathe of advising the Governor on this subject rests with his Excellency's responsible adviseis, and not with inesponsible persons, swayed by one or two erratic and misguided individuals at public meetings and upon statements misleading and untrue. THE BIG GUN GOES OFF. Bichard John : I guess that little explosion will ghe them a bit of a shock. They von't be in svch a hwry to touch me off next time.
