Amateur Athletic Sports.

THE sports meeting under the auspices of the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club to-morrow (Saturday) promises to be a success. As a matter of fact, there are now only two essentia's necessary to make them so viz., fine weather and a liberal attendance of tne general public. The promi&cd revival in the sport, as the result of the recent championship meeting seems to have been fulfilled, judging from the numerous entries recived for to-morrow's gathering. The list of handicap?, published in the daily papers during the week, made quite refreshing read ng, and a larger number cf competitors will contest the various events to-morrow than have been seen on the Basin Reserve at an amateur meeting for years past. « » * Mr. W. Many of the competitors are new members of the Amateur Athletic Club, and will make their debut at this meeting. Among the names are Secklon, L. Blundell and R. Brido- of Wellington College fame; also, D. D. Elias and D. Calcinai, who fought out a great finish for the Public Schools Championship two years ago. Two races have been placed on the f)iogramme for aspirants to inter-ool-ege championship honours, and have been well received by both local colleges.
