Rugby Football.

Frank Johnson, the Old Boys' Club and Wellington representative fiveeighth player, left by the "Victoria, en route for the Edinburgh University, on Saturday last. He expects to be away from New Zealand for at least six years, the most of that time to be spent in studying for the medical profession. Frank was one of the promising players of Wellington, and he was telling me the other day of his intention to play the "Rugger" game in the capital of Scotland if it did not interfere with his studies. Many will concur in the wish that he may have the opportunity of showing his prowess on the football field in Edinburgh, and that, when he comes back to us, he may have many tales to tell us of games he assisted to win. At. any rate, I wish him the best of luck and success. ♦ * * Rush, who will be remembered as the player who place-kicked two beautiful goals for Manawatu against Wellington last year, is in town just now, and will stay 'if he can obtain suitable employment. I hear that he is likely to play for the Poneke Club. Last year Rush represented Manawatu both as a forward and full-back. The signs of the approach of the football season are with us. The various secretaries are busy with their annual reports, and the man in the street is already discussing the chances of the various teams. Annual meetings will be held next month.
