Rugby Football.
I hear that there is a big possibility of sufficient grounds being secured at Miramar during the incoming football season by the Rugby Union for the playing of at least ten matches? every Saturday. This should be good news tor the majority of our junior players. I have been asked to write as to ways in which improvements can be brought out in the game, but I feel loth to do so while the New Zealand Rugby Union still gives allegiance to the English Union. But, directly, there will he a few spare weeks on which no regular sport takes place, and I may let myself go on this subject. The Rugby Union's bye-law re defaulters is at present troubling club secretaries, as their balance-sheets are beincr asked for by the Union. It is intended this year to issue the defaulters' list before championship matches commence. Those who have not paid their last year's subscription, to their clubs should do so early next week, as the sheets have to be handed in by the 13th. The Wellington correspondent of an Auckland paper says "Cocky" Roberts has given the game best for all time. Is my friend speaking with authority, or is he only hazarding an opinion ?
