After all, "Billy" Pollock will get away from his office stool in tune to compete at the Australasian meeting. He will leave Wellington on Saturday, the 23rd. The Amateur Athletic Club will hold a meeting in March. The exact date id not yet fixed. Quite a number of new members have been added to the membership of the club. Laurnce, Milner, Matthews, and Talbot will go over to the Nelson, meeting next month. I hear that St. Peter's Club intend holding a sports meeting at an early date. This will be good news to local amateurs, as St. Peter's will probably put. on two or more open events. Acting on the suggestion of their president (Mr. L. 0. H. Tripp), the Amateur Athletic Club will place on the programme of their coming meeting four races for boys. — inter-college championship 100 yds and 440 yds, and the same distances for inter-schools. It is intended to work this matter emero-etioal-]y, and the secretary will communicate personally and by letter with all headmasters of schools and colleges. It is understood that Christ College will send a team up.

Mr. R. Fletcher announces himself as a candidate' for the vacancy on the Harbour Board, Mr. Nicholas Reid having; retired. Mr. Fletcher's qualifications for such a position are so well known that his election would certainly strengthen a body composed of brainy and progressive business men.

The Huddart Parker steamer Zealandia will not make an excursion trip to Picton on Anniversary Day. She has been detained m Auckland, working heavy cargo, and will leave for the South at 8 o'clock on Saturday night.

The New Zealand Railway Departs me<nt sets out, by advertisement elsewhere, the schedule of excursion trains and fares for Anniversary Day. Constant trains will run to the Wellington races, and all trains, eoccept mail trains, will stop for passengers at the Petone Show Grounds, where the D Battery is encamp*ed, and at Trentham Siding, for passengers attending the rifle meeting.
