Important Property Sales.
Messrs. Macdonald, Wilson and Co. will sell by public auction, on August 13th, the whole of the properties comprised in the estate of the late Mrs. William Bishop. Among the splendid investments ofte**ing aie four fine buil'dmg sections m Ingestre-street, and cose to Cuba-stieet. Also included in the catalogue is the convenient and well-built family lesidence, containing ten looms. A shop and dw T elhng-house in Cuba-stieet concludes the list of the propei ties in the estate, and the- whole will be sod under the hammer. Messrs. Macdonald, Wilson, and Co-, are instructed by Mr. Justice Edwards to sell, on the same date (August 13th) his fine mansion and grounds in Hillstreet. This lesidence is certainly one of the most complete and handsome family residences in the city. It contains seventeen spacious rooms all poesessme the acme of convenience. The grounds aa*e more than half-an-acre in extent. Further particulars are set out elsewhere. * * * Messrs. Macdonald, Wilson, and Co., under instructions from the Public Trustee, will sell on the same date (August 13th) 61 building allotments in the town of Petone. These sections are m the estate of the late W. B. Buick, and have frontages to the Esplanade, Jackson, Elizabeth, and Buick streets. Another block, containing UDwards of seven acres, and adjoining the above sections will be sold, offerme, as may be seen a most desirable investment m this populous! and rising town.
Messrs. W. H. Morrah and Co., the enterprising auctioneers and land agents, are moving with the times. Their splendid new four-storey building, in Willis-street, will, when completed, be a presentable addition to the growing city. The firm itself carries on its business on the ground floor, which is large and roomy, and splendidly lighted. The second floor, which is approached bv a gne stairway, contains nine offices, each, of which is roomy and well-lighted, arid contains a gas fire, with a ''shilling-in-the-slot meter. Above that is the finest photoeiaphio studio in Wellington, the area of skylight being, it is said, the largest in the colony. ■>■ * * In the big Tamworth (N.S.W.) shooting carnival, held recently, Messrs. A. W. Eales, T. Manohee, and Blair used the Colonial Ammunition Company's three-inch "Bluerock" cartridges, with l^oz No. 6 shot, and "Amberite" powder, throughout the meeting. _ Accoiding to reports, Mr. Eales is now T open to shoot against anyone in Australia, for any part of £1000, at 100 birds (30 yards, or at any distance over that rise), and if anyone, takes up his offer, he intends using the Colonial ammunition, which he prefers to an^ other makes. Mr. Eales also did some excellent shooting at the Newcastle Gun Club's £100 pigeon match, last week, killing 28 birds straight from the 32yds rise, gathering all the birds within 17yds boundary. Again in, this match he used Colonial three-inch "Bluerock" cartridges. T * * ' The Talkeries," hitherto situated next to the Opera House, have now been transplanted to Willis-street, nearly opposite the Empire Hotel. Having now more space, the energetic proprietors are more fully stocked than ever with new machines and new records.
