MIRAMAR PARK. ,
Quite recently Miramar Limited offered this recreation reserve to the Gity Council at £150 per acre, and they declined it with thanks. Now, it is said, the Miramar Ferry Company intend purchasing it at that figure, and contemplate increasing their capital to about four times their present, sitrength. The programme includes a train-nay from the Park to the Miramar wharf, and an up-to-date ferry boat. This will be first-rate news for the people of Wellington, and particularly so for the loveirs of out-door sports. From the financial aspect of the venture it should prove an excellent investment, far if the Ferry Company do the thing properly, and make the Park an attractive pleasure ground, it will be largely patronised by the Wellington public, and. as Miramar is extensive enough to become the. largest suburb of the city in time the Miramar ferry service will assume the proportions of the excellent North Shore service at Auckland. • * • Thanks largely to the exertions ">f Mr. Chase-Moris, Miramar is coming rapidly to the front. Miramar Limited, which he formed, hare roaded and surveyed a considerable portion of their property, sold upwards of one hundred sections, and instituted a Starr-Bowkett building fund, that will erect a new residence at
Miramar North every six weeks for the next six years. • • • And now, on Saturday last, the prospectus of a £20,000 building and investment company was filed by Mr. Chase-Morris to take up twenty-four acres at Miramar North and build all over it. The Crawford brothers have placed the whole of the balance of their property — some 695 acres* under option to Mr. Chase<-Morris, and he tells us he intends floating a large company next year to tajce it up and develop it, so that one has not got to be very farsoeing to take a. forecast of say five years when the Miramar Peninsula, which has for years occupied the position of being; one of the largest dairy farms in New Zealand, will be converted into a large and prosperous suburb, that will vie with an^ in Wellington, and will "ossessone of the finest pleasure grounds in the colony. The prospectus of the Miramar Building and Investment Company appears elsewhere, aiTid is well worth the attention of investors.
