WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL. NOTICE OF INTENTION TO MAKE RATES. NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the City of Wellington will, at a Special meeting to be held at the City Council Chambeis, Brandon Street, on Thuisday, the 2nd day of July, 1903, at 7.30 p m , make and levy the following Rates for the period commencing on the first day of April, 1903, and ending on the 31st day of Maich, 1904, namely .—. — WELLINGTON WARD. A Geneial Rate for the genei'al purposes of the above-named Ward of the City of one penny three farthings in the £ on the rateable value on the Valuation Roll ot all rateable property within the above-named Waid (on the basis of the unimpio\ed value). WELLINGTON WARD AND PORTION OF MELROSE WAHD, ETC. Watei late (oidinaiy supply) as follows .—. — On all lands and buildings in Wellington Ward and on all lands and buildings m the poitions of the Mehose Waid and the Boiough of Karen leferied to in the Wellington (City) Subuibs Water Supply Act, 1895, to which water is supplied — (a) Wheie the annual lateable value on the Valuation Roll does not exceed £12 10s a rate of 10s. (b) Wheie such lateable value exceeds £12 10s a rate of 4 per cent, on -such value. One-half of the respective Water Rates mentioned above and on all lands and buildings to which water can be, but is not, supplied, situate within one hundred yards from any pait of the waterworks, and on all buildings used as stoics or waiehouses, or foi any purposes other than dwelhnghouses, WELLINGTON WARD. A late under the provisions of the Hospitals and Chantable Institutions Act, 1885, of twopence three farthings in the £ on the annual rateable value on the Valuation Roll of all lateable pioperty within the above-named Ward, such rate being required to meet the contributions payable by the Council to the Wellington Hospitable Board and the Wellington and Wairarapa Charitable Aid Board. A Libraiy Rate of one-ninth of a penny in the £ on the unimpioved rateable value on the Valuation Roll of all lateable property within the abovenamed Ward. Also, that all the above Rates will be payable in two equal instalments on the thnd day of July and the third day of December, 1903. Notice is also heieby given that the City Council intends to levy a portion of the Special Rate of one shilling in the £ on all rateable property within the Wellington Waid, and in the poitions of the Melrose Ward and the Borough of Karon by the Wellington (City) Suburbs Sanitation Act, 1893, declared to be subject to special rates made and levied by the Council of the City of Wellington for diainage purposes made and stiuck (on the annual rateable value) on the 20th Novembei, 1892, for interest and sinking fund on the Wellington City Sanitation Loan of £165,000, such portion to be eleven thirty-secondths of a penny in the £ on the unimproved rateable value ; such portion of late to be payable by two equal half-yearly instalments on the dates fixed in that behalf by the special order making the said rate. Notice is also hereby given that the Council intends to levy a portion of the Special Rate of one penny in the £ on all rateable property in the Wellington Ward, and in the portions of the Melrose Ward and the Borough of Kaioii by the Wellington (City) Suburbs Sanitation Act, 1893, declaied to be subject to special rates made and levied by City of Wellington for drainage purposes, made and struck (on the annual rateable value) on the thnd June, 1897, foi inteiest on the loan of £33,000 laised for the completion of the diamage works of the city, such portion to be one-eighteenth of a penny in the £ on the unimpioved lateable \alue, which portion of the rate will be payable by two equal half-yeaily instalments on the dates fixed in that behalf by the special order making the said rate ; also that the annually lecumng special rate on all rateable propeity within the Wellington Ward for interest and sinking fund on the City Improvements Loan ot £100,000 will be payable in two equal instalments on the dates nxed in that behalf, such late for the period above-mentioned to be hve-sixteenths of a penny in the £ on the basis of the unimproved value. Also, that the annually recurring Special Rate of one-ninth of a penny in the £ on the unimpioved lateable value of all rateable propeity within the Wellington Waid, for inteiest on the Consolidated Loan of £200,000 will be payable in two equal instalments on the dates fixed in that behalf. MELROSE WARD. A General Rate for the general purposes of the above-named Ward of the City of two and one-twenty-eighth pence in the £ on the lateable value on the Valuation Roll of all rateable property within the above named Waid (on the basis of the unimpioved value). A Rate under the provisions of the Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1885, of one-sixth of a penny in the £ on the capital value on the Valuation Roll of all rateable pioperty within the above named Ward, such rate being lequired to meet the contributions payable by the Council to the Wellington Hospital Board and the Wellington
