The services of the Postponement Commottee weie called into requisition on Saturday. The inclemency of the weather made their mterfeienee necessary. It was just as well, too, tliat the weather caused a postponement, in the senior championship at any rate. Rot-ers-St. John's heat could not be played on New town Park, and the game between Petone and Swifts had to be deferred, owing to the Petone ground not being avadable. • • • The Association has quietly borne the loss of the Petone ground, which was it first suggested a® only a temporary one, but which is now a permanent addition to the' Rugby area I do not blame the Rugby Union for keeping +s weather eye open, and securing: grounds, but I have" good reasons to believe tint the Petone Borough Council disposed o f the ground under a misapprehension and have requested the Rugby Union to waive its right to the ground a>« conveyed in a, decision of the last Petone Borough Council. This lam led to believe, the Rugby Union are not disposed to do. . • • * The Management Committee of the Wellington Football Association, however, have had several grounds offend them at Miramar and in all probability they will be accepted. • • • The question of procuring grounds, which has been a big contract, has been fixed up for thisi season at least, and now the Association has at its command some good playing areas. • * * The City Council ha& granted the u«e of Nairn-street Reserve and Kelburne to the Association, and this wdl enab'o tihat body to extend the sphere of the game among the boys. ♦ * If anything there will be some spare grounds. The recently - acquired grounds are to be got ready in case of emergency, as the Petone difficulty has caused a certain amount of inconvenience up to the present and the unceitainty of Newtown Park through wet weather has also to be reckoned on • « • The insurance scheme has met with approval in every quarter. Players now have a medical and pecuniary protection against accidents, which, if serious heretofore meant a little, and sometimes considerable, expenditure to the unlucky ones. The replies of the medical men to assist the Association m its undertaking have been of a very satisfactory nature and far exceeded the anticipations of the Management Committee. • ♦ * The Auckland ''Herald" says "The V.M.C.A. has secured the services of Mr A. Asbury the crack English Association football player and with such a pivot the Y M C A. should go veiv near winning the coveted cup " No doubt our local players will ' o glad to read of Mr. Asburv's success n the Queen City, but, ludgmg of his nlav as exhibited when playing with the suburban team, Wellington need not bn afraid of meeting Auckland even tlioueh he is lucky enough to be included in the team.
The colomsof the Kent Ten ace Club has been registered as dailc blue with light blue band. It has recently come to light, that a set of goal posts have been, lying in a prominent soccerist's back yard for a number o-l years. It is said that, the Kaiw arra team cam run rings round any of the tlind-class teams, and is quite fit for junior, if no 1 senior, play due solely to thorough training. Cannot the Management Committee c'assify them as a junior team 9 Meetings of the W.F.A. aie to be held on every Wednesday evening m future At next week's meeting members are to digest revision* in the laws of the game.
