Bowling Notes.

Rinker," of the ' Australasian" (Melbourne) says — "What about seniujng t Mel bourne bow ling team over to Now Zealand next season to endeavour to retrieve our lost laurels ? I had a conversation the other day with Mr. J. M. Geddis, a member of the Wellington Bowling Club, who is just now spending a hoi' day in Australia, and he suggested the idea, pointing out that the opportunei time would be in January next. In the third week of that month the biennial tournament of the. Northern Bowling Association, opens m Auckland, and, starting on a Monday, will last the week. This Association embraces iU the clubs of the North Island, as well as those of Nelson and Marlborough m the South Island. The programme: consists of the Inter-club Tournament (two rinks constituting a team), and 1 a Pairs Tournament some thirty clubs are usually represented. ♦ * » "Mr. Geddis assures me' that a visit from a Melbourne team would be hailed with the greatest satisfaction, and that the members thereof would have a real good time. A Sydney team took part in the last biennial tournament at Auckland, and it is hoped and expected that Sydney will again be represented -n January next. Immediately after the Northern Bowling Association's tournament the New Zealand Bowling Association (which has jurisdiction over the provinces of Otago and Canterbury, and is: a very strong and influential body) opens its tournament in Dunedin, and the Melbourne visitors would be just a& w r armly welcomed there as in the North. • • ♦ "The project is an attractive one, and I see no reason why it should not be crystalised into a definite undertaking. It offers, the sure promise of a splendid holiday, and might be brought within the compass of a month. The team would require to leave Sydney in time to reach Auckland by the third week in January. It could afterwards proceed to Dunedin and return to Melbourne via the Bluff."
